Wednesday update.

So sorry i didn't update on Monday but to be honest, i just can't function when it is negative 18. that is just wrong. so i couldn't get my fingers working.

and then yesterday, well it was a tuesday by all intensive standards, so that in itself is bad enough to warrant not blogging.. We had a friend come over for dinner (pizza- because it was too cold to leave the house once he got there, so we figured we'd make the pizza guy suffer in the cold- sorry to all the pizza guys out there) and watched some tv. Pretty plain day. Watched the biggest Loser finale, I am glad Michelle won. She really deserved it and I really didn't like Heba, so i am glad she didn't get in the finals and I am glad that her husband got beat too.. Michelle was the best competitor in the whole competition, so Kudos to her.. and yeh, just like everyone else, i am motivated to lose some weight, but not the way they did. I have been contemplating joining the gym again to be able to do some swimming in the winter, like my dog gets to do.. I will keep thinking about it, but might join during my two week vacation.

Today is supposed to be warmer, if you call 35 degrees warm. (just for the record, I don't)

I am very much looking forward to my vacation. I have a ton of things i want to do around the house that has been on the "when I get time" list, and i am going to get some time coming up. My boyfriend and I usually travel quiet a bit during the year, but this year, we haven't have the funds, so we have stayed home over most holidays we normally would have traveled, so due to that, i have a ton of vacation days that i never cashed in. I gotta use them before the end of the year, so shucks, looks like i get two weeks off.

A few comments on some current events.. I am heart broken for Little Caylee Anthony. As someone that has been trying to get pregnant for some time now, it makes me so sad that people that don't deserve to be trusted with a little life can be granted such a gift and not want or appreciate it.. just sad.. her mother needs to rot in jail.
I love the shoe throwing debacle.. I just wish the guy had hit him, but then again, what would those charges be? he's already looking at 5 to 15 years in jail. That's can't be fun. (but i say good job to him, i can completely understand his frustration, and who can blame him for acting out?- besides his employers I guess.. But i had no idea that Mr. Bush has such quick reflexes.. the only impressive trait about him.
Have a great Wednesday..
alright here are the things to celebrate today..

Today is Wright Brothers Day. They made their first flights on December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, N.C. Orville flew an experimental plane, the Wright Flyer, 120 feet in 12 seconds; Wilbur flew 852 feet in 59 seconds. They made two other short flights with the Flyer before an ocean gust lifted and badly damaged the plane.

Today is Clean Air Day, marking the 1967 passage of the U.S. Clean Air Act, a sweeping set of laws to protect the nation from air pollution. It was the first law to place pollution controls on the auto industry.

Today is National Maple Syrup Day.

Today is Simpsons Day. The popular animated cartoon family debuted as a weekly sitcom on December 17, 1989. Creator of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie is Matt Groening.

What makes people do really stupid things???

I mean if you are a governor of a state, you might not want to be on the phone trying to sell the Senate seat to the highest bidder.. Someone will hear you and turn you in, even if the day before you tell reporters that everything you do is upstanding and legal.. LIAR!!

Poor people of Ill. What an embarrassment. Hope they get it right in a re-election.

So we got some snow, not much but enough to make the roads slippery and enough to make it hard to get to the morning paper this morning. I almost fell on my butt on my driveway. but i didn't thank goodness.

Jay Leno is staying with NBC and they are saying that this is going to "revolutionize TV". I am not sure how that is going to happen, but what i do know is that they are axing some of the most popular drama series on TV these days. I heard that Boston Legal just got canned. My favorite, Dirty, Sexy Money will probably get the axe too.. That is sad. I was just getting used to the idea of more drama tv not less... Please don't replace some of these shows with more reality shows. I mean unless they are all Big Brother shows. I still love that one.

I have another package ready to go to my soldier. I wont be able to send it off until Monday but it is full and ready to go.. I hope he likes all the stuff i collect for him over the two weeks. I have a lot of fun doing it. I will let you know if i get a letter back from him. I am very interested to know what is going on over there, but i am sure he doesn't have a ton of time to write letters, so i am not holding my breath.

Here are the things that make today so special. Enjoy!!!

Back to the grind...

So here we are, the crazy slow weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You spend your hard earned money, run around in the snow to get gifts for friends and family. It can get a little out of hand.. So that's why tonight i will partake in my "Two weeks before christmas" tradition. I get drunk. I mean what else is there to do? You can't go outside to do much of anything if you don't want the hanging parts of your body to freeze off. You probably spend too much this past weekend and have no more money to go shopping. so i say, throw on your favorite yule log fire DVD and fix yourself a few rounds of your favorite adult beverage and watch the flames flicker the same way as last year. It's a grand time, trust me.

So, the countdown is on, and santa has made his list and should be, if my calculations are correct, checking it for a second time right about now. They are calling for a larger snow storm than the one we had last week, which wasn't much as all as far as Colorado standards go. To sound like a true coloradoian, i should say it will be good to get snow because we need the moisture, but to be honest, i could give a hoot about the moitsture, i don't want snow and i don't want cold weather.. Looks like i picked the wrong state for that.

I will pack up my family's gifts tonight and my goal is to have them in the mail by tomorrow afternoon. It will be nice to get that off the list and done. Then we have to get our tree out (fake of course, i can't see a good reason to chop down a tree and drag it inside) so we have a small treel with lights already on it, so it is ready to go.. We decorated our porch this past weekend.

Not much else to report so here's the daily celebrations if my suggestion for getting drunk tonight wasn't enough, here are some other reasons to tip the glass.

Today is John Lennon Remembrance Day. (see, great think to toast a drink to)

Today is Winter Flowers Day. (I’ll drink to that)

Tonight is Be Someone’s Pillow While You Watch TV Night. (can do that drunk?)

Today is National Brownie Day. (only if they are made with rum, right???)

Today is Beach Day in Uruguay, Lady of Camarin Day in Guam, and Constitution Day in Uzbekistan. (nothing better to do on the beach than drink.. right????)

Today is the Feast of Immaculate Conception, the Roman Catholic Holy Day of Obligation. A public holiday in Nicaragua. ( and when I was a good little student at my Catholic High School this meant that WE GOT THE DAY OFF!!!- so now as an adult, I will drink)
