It's Official

The Mayor of Denver had Officially declared June 27th Widespread Panic Day in Denver..
This is to celebrate the band selling out 32 consecutive shows at Red Rocks. That's more than any other band in the venue history.
CELEBRATE!!!

Almost Panic weekend....

So, i have been really slacking about the pool pics, and i will get on that, i swear...
and i have to say that i am sorry for the lack of posting yesterday, i had a bit of a day and well, just didn't do it..
So, the night before..Well let's start a few hours earlier than that.. I was sitting at work, and got the idea of a beer and a float after work would be great. So, i stopped into my local beer store and got some good beer and headed home. I don't think i was in the door even 30 seconds when i had the first one open and was stripping my clothes walking down to hall towards the bedroom to change into my swimsuit.
Got into the pool, sipped the beer, and low and behold i was right on the money. It was great.. So i finished that one.. got the next one and sat outside next to the pool watching my dogs chase squirrles and birds take baths.
Then it was time for some grub, we got dinner and well i thought i would have another beer with that.. and again, it was good. Then what else is better with evening tv and a buzz, that's right, another beer.. So that makes three, and it wan't even dark out yet.. I knew i was in trouble, but apparently alcohol takes those thoughts away, and i drank my beer.
TV time was over, and it was getting close to going to bed time and I wasn't tired. I went into the bed room, laid down, watched some Jay Leno and still couldn't fall asleep. so what's the best cure for that... Say it with me everyone,, another beer. that's right.. So i went and fetched my beer and watched some late night TV.. drank, then i got a kick of energy.. Let's start some laundry, then clean the kitchen waiting for the laindry, then clothes in dryer and swept the floor waiting for those.. After the beer, cleaning and some more TV, i was ready to try laying down again.. Well at this point, it is 2:30, and i fell asleep.
Now getting up the next day proved to be almost as hard as going to bed the night before. Needless to say, I did make it to work and through almost a whole day when i called it quits at 2:30. And now you know why you don't have any pool pictures yet.. But they are coming, i swear..
OK, so you will have to do without me for a few days as i will be in Widespread Panic land all weekend and into next week. Enjoying the time away from my life for a few days to share some laughter, music and space with a few good friends..
See you some time next week..
with pictures.

Today is National Swing a Kid Day

Only if it over a cliff.. I kid, i kid...
But it really is..
Yesterday i mowed my lawn, only diagonal. nothing special. but afterwards, i went, clothes and all, into the pool and laid on my new deluxe lounge chair. All i needed was beer, but that would have meant getting up and getting it myself, so that wasn't happening.. but it felt great to just float. love floating..

So, Yes, my dear Whitney, I will post some pictures of the pool. and maybe some with the deluxe float too.. if you are nice.

Colorado will be in the 90s the next few days so it will totally come in handy, believe me.

Nothing really special to bitch about today. Had a pretty good ride into work. had to spend $26.00 on 6 gallons of gas, that that's always fun. But other than that, nothing much to report. sorry...
And i was asked about the daily snack update. I will do what i can, but i no longer work in that building and while it isn't that far away, being about 20 steps away from the entrance to my new building. i just don't seem to make it over there, and i usually don't know it's 2pm until it is too late.. But i will do what i can. and report it when i know it.
So here are some tidbits to help you celebrate the day...

Today is National Columnists Day, a day to celebrate newspaper columnists.

Today is Descendants Day and Log Cabin Day.

Today is National Creamy Pralines Day.

Today is St. Jean-Baptiste Day, a public holiday in Quebec, celebrating the birth of St. John the Baptist.

And here are things that have happened on this day since i have been alive..

1977: 15-year-old Marlene Raymond of Toronto set a world limbo record by scrunching under a limbo bar only 6 and 1/8 inches above the floor. And the limbo bar was on fire!

1983: The space shuttle Challenger, carrying America's first woman in space, astronaut Sally K. Ride, coasted to a safe landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

1989: Roseanne Cash’s recording "I Don’t Want to Spoil the Party" hit #1. It was the first #1 country song written by Paul McCartney and the late John Lennon.

1991: A $100 check made out to Pablo Picasso sold for $6,500. In 1962 an art lover gave Picasso the check and asked for a picture. Picasso drew a smiling little devil on the back of the check and returned it to the buyer.

1994: President Bill Clinton complained in St. Louis that unfair and negative reports about him were "feeding a cynical mindset" in America.

1995: Singer Daryle Singletary married actress Kerry Harvick at the First Baptist Church in Daryle’s hometown, Comanche, Texas.

1996: A report by the World Bank revealed one-fifth of the world's population had to live on less than a dollar a day.

1997: After three days eluding gamekeepers, an 8-foot, 175-pound alligator named Douglas was finally captured in an Atlanta residential area and adopted by the Wild Adventures amusement park in Valdosta, Georgia.

1998: Walt Disney World Resort in Florida admitted its 600-millionth guest.

2002: A drunk driver in Karlskoga, Sweden, didn't notice he had lost a wheel until he was pulled up by police. The man could not believe he was driving around on just three wheels. He was charged with drunk-driving.

2005: The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported the nation's second confirmed case of mad cow disease.

New and Improved...

Well maybe not so improved, but it is new.
The very first thing i would like to say, is that i am very sorry to hear about the passing of George Carlin. When i was a kid, he was the first "naughty" comedian that i saw that i understood and liked.. About 6 years ago, i was asked if i wanted to go to see him perform at a local theater, i went. But at the same time thinking, he will be around forever, but i will go this time.
BOY, he can put on a show. an entirely entertaining and funny show all by himself. Nothing, just him and a microphone. Amazing.
One of my favorite quotes by George Carlin..
"Here's all you need to know about men and women. Women and crazy and men are stupic. And the main reason women are crazy is that men are stupid."
RIP my good man.. And as my sister said this morning... Dad is happy that he's got George is up there with him. I bet dad is in line already for the first gig in heaven...
OK, next my Rockies update.. We have been doing great recently.. At least getting some series wins and not too many single game losses. Much to my step dad's chagrin, The Indians came to town and got swept. The mets came to town and lost the series only to win the last game, yesterday afternoon. But we are getting back to where we need to be. Tulowitzki came back last week and is starting to get back in the swing f things.. He is starting to make more Major league plays and that's what we need right now.
Widespread Panic comes back to Red Rocks this weekend. We have our group all set and everyone has agreed to do some line waiting and some running/muling. so i think we are set.
OK, so i broke down and got an above ground, redneck swimming pool for my back yard. Well it isn't that redneck in that it isn't the kind with metal panels, but it is an above ground, so that in itself is kinda redneck-y.. but we got it all together and up and running. yesterday the water was still a bit cold. Hoping that by the time i get done mowing the lawn it will be refreshing enough for me to get in and use my new deluxe floaty that i got at wallgreens for real cheap..OK, that's post one.. see you tomorrow..
