Why i joined facebook and how it proves my horoscopes are off track

If you are just checking this for the week, then look below and you will be surprised to see that i posted yesterday too. Yup. trying to get back on a regular posting schedule. The problem is coming up with topics, but i think i am ready to take on the challenge. If not there is a whole wide world of webs that i can search for conversation pieces.

I joined Facebook.. I had heard from a long lost HS friend, wait, i think it was more like middle school, oh my god i am old- that another long lost MS friend was on facebook, so i joined to stalk, i mean get in touch with her. Since i have joined there are so many people on facebook that you wouldn't imagine. I mean i have my old College adviser as one of my friends. IS that scary??? But i have regained some friendships that i have very much missed and have gotten in touch with some people that their names were long gone from my memory bank (and some whose names will be permanently scarred- opps i mean etched in there forever) It's good to find friends from the past, see what they are up to and try to remember those lost nights and weekends away from school doing what it was we did back then. I read one person's post that said they wanted to go to the old house where all the house parties were in college and see if they can rent it for a night, not to party in, but to just sit on the front porch and drink keg beer and watch the traffic go by. But i think back in the day there was a sign out front that said "You Honk, We Drink"...so it gave reason to watch traffic.
So, what does this have to do with my horoscope? Well about a month ago I started noticing that my horoscope was not really following what was going on in my life. I read it every morning and try to see when things come up that i was warned about or given advice about.. most of the time there is something. I realize it is all mostly the odds and chances of situations and a predisposition to be looking for them simply because i am expecting them from reading my horoscope.. I really do get it.. I am not that crazy.. But like i said a few weeks ago things just kind of stopped lining up. just strange when you can notice things day by day and then all of a sudden nothing. So a day goes by that i am like, wow, that horoscope was nothing like my day actually was. Then two days, then a week, now it has been about four weeks since it has been even remotely close. But i do recall when it started getting off track was right about when the horoscopes were reading that I would be in touch with friends from times gone past.. at the time there was nothing.. Didn't hear from anyone i didn't otherwise keep in touch with. Then all of a sudden, the end of last week i have been in touch with a TON of people from long ago. Hopefully they will start getting back on track there were some great thing that was supposedly to happen in these last few weeks.

In other news:
Yesterday the merger between XM and Sirius satellites went through. It was only 18 months in the making and finally decided on by a bunch of Republicans. Can you believe it? Well i have to say well done, and listening to the talk on Howard Stern this morning, seems some radio people are thinking about stitching side for this national election simply because of this.. Opps to the Dems I say. Not a good time to be picking fights with your friends.

And to try to bring back an old tradition, here are interesting tid-bits about today...
~Today is Contrast Day, a day to appreciate music by playing Vivaldi, Bo Diddley, Jaci Valesquez, and Johnny Cash.
~Today is National Cheesecake Day
~The 4-day Maine Lobster Festival begins today. Of course, the Lobster Fest is not just for lobsters -- anyone can go
~Today is Cubbyhole Appreciation Day
~Today is Paperback Day, marking the start of the paperback book revolution with publication of Penguin #1, Ariel, A Life of Shelley by Andre Maurois in London this date in 1935. Books had been published with soft covers in Leipzig, Germany, as early as 1841, but never really caught on.- and i actually bought a paperback just this morning.. guess i was celebrating!!! happy reading!

Tuesday, July 29

just to catch you off guard...

Here I am on a Tuesday.. wow, up a day, let's see if i can make this a trend.
So this morning I was listening to the Howard Stern show, as i do every morning on my way to work. It really wakes me up and most of the time, gives me a great laugh on my way to the daily grind. There have been a few times that i have been crying from laughing that i have to pull over and let it pass before it is safe for me to operate a moving vehicle again. This morning was like that. So, Artie Lang (artie-lang.com) was talking about his most recent trip to Afghanistan to do some stand up comedy and cheer up the troops, little USO mission. They were all telling stories about Artie having to take Ambien and Valium to get to sleep while he was over there, and said he orders food in his sleep, and waking up abruptly and his arms flailing about like he was having a seizure. so funny. I can totally picture it.. OK so i guess you have to hear it for yourself. Great radio..
But i guess the XM and Sirius merger has been approved. As a Sirius subscriber, I have no idea what that is going to mean for me. All I have to say is don't take my Howard away... at least not until he is ready to retire( he says in three years)... Maybe i will give up paying for radio at that time, but for now, i am stuck on Howard.. (mainly for Artie)...

Tuesday, it's going to be another hot one, with temps in the upper 90s for the 16th day straight. I guess in Colorado, the record is 18 days in the 90s and we are going to be beating that this week. Thursday and Friday temps are supposed to be in the 100's. OUCH and super OUCH!!!

OK, Now i have some political observations that i need to get off my chest. If you know already that you don't like my political views, maybe it's best if you stop here.
(1) ok, so a while ago, Obama said that he thought there needed to be a time table for our removal from Iraq. The republicans went NUTS. Slamming him on every TV outlet saying that it was too soon, he didn't know what he was talking about and that it was a bad idea to set a time limit. THEN a few weeks ago, the Iraqi government came out saying that THEY wanted a time table from the Americans as to when they will be OUT of their country. And the Bush Administration said, "OH, ok, we can tell you that.. no problem, I had it planned the whole time", great idea"
that boils by blood.
Ok, so here's the next one
(2) Obama, a while ago, maybe even before the debacle with Hillary was over, said that he thought it was a great idea for us to sit down with Iran and just talk, as humans, with out threats and pointing fingers and ultimatums. Bush, McCain and all the other old cronies said, "oh no, you are as crazy as they are.. That will never work. If we back down they will attack immediatly." Well i like how they tried to keep it quiet that we have moved our Carriers out of the gulf. This is the first time since the Mid 90's that these people have woken up without the threat on bombs going off on them. I mean it has to be weird with a gun pointed at you all the time. But i digress...
So, Bush has moved the carriers, Brian Williams was broadcasting live from Taron yesterday. The president (can't spell it, wont even try) was saying that if you treat us with respect we will return the act. and maybe we are starting to learn...
even if it is from the other side...

So, my thoughts are that Bush is tyring to squash every idea Obama has and then can turn around saying you wanted change, here, I am changing it for you, vote the old man in...
Sorry, I am still on the Obama boat...
end of rant.. see you next time..
feel free to comment!

Wednesday Again....

We have got to stop meeting like this. I don't know what it is about Wednesdays that makes me thing about blogging but it does, so here i am again...
This weekend was long and HOT. and by hot i don't mean full of great tunes and amazing opportunities. i mean friggen HOT.. like when we were at the music festival this weekend, Saturday it was 98 and then Sunday, yup 100.. and forget that "it's a dry heat" crap you hear.. it's still friggen HOT!!! make no mistake. And you want to hear the worst? Our AC is busted.. that's right busted.. as in not working as in HOT!
So the landlord is coming by this afternoon to check it out.. Want to know what that means to me???? It's like you mother coming to visit. got to get the dirty dishes out of the sink, pick up my clothes that are strung about the house drying from the washer this morning. And pick up the dog hair, straighten the living room and then hope to hell he doesn't need to pee during the process. And what else sucks is that we have been without AC for going on a week now, and he doesn't know the first thing about repairing an Air Conditioner, he just wants to make sure it's broken, like we are dumb asses that can't figure out that hot air out of the registers is not right when the AC is on.. but it's his house, so he gets to call the shots. I just know we wont have it fixed any time soon. I am thinking about asking him to trade places for the night if he leaves without making it comfortable inside. But as i have learned, he couldn't care less about our issues...

(if you are offended mby my music opinions it might be a great idea to turn back now. I.E. STOP READING)
So back to the music festival. It was ok.. Big and hot and full of DMB fans on sunday.. And we know from my last post how much i love them and want to spend my time surrounded by 50,000 of them. Standing in the media tent it was really funny when I overheard a member of the press explaining to another member of the press what he meant by a Dave Mathews Fan and i believe the explanation was "the douche bags with the white hats on backwards and the kacki shorts" and that's it perfectly.
So, i am feeling the need to explain that as i don't appreciate The Dave Mathews Band, I have to say that if they kicked Dave Mathews out of the band, it might actually be a great band. DM is smart enough to know that he, himself, is not a strong musician, so he surrounds himself with major hitters. saxophonist LeRoi Moore, bassist Stefan Lessard, violinist Boyd Tinsley and drummer Carter Beauford are all amazing, but they don't get to really play... so there's my take.
the place was full of DMB fans and the contrast between them and the Flogging Molly fans was laughable. Flogging Molly fans can only be described as punks in skirts. and by that i mean they are tough, kick you ass kind of guys in kilts. Flogging Molly is a Scottish band with all kinds of instruments with a punk edge.. And of course I really dug them. But overall, not sure i would say it was a great festival and you should check it out because of the festival itself, but you should go if your favorite band is playing.

So that was the whole weekend.. I had a tough one, and had to learn some valuable lessons this weekend. Emotions are a weird thing and just when you let your guard down, they tend to get the best of you.

Moving on... I haven't mowed the lawn in over a week because it has been so darn hot out. It only gets bearable about 8pm. I was about to mow last night, but right when i got out there, the night cycle for the sprinkler system started. so it was a no go for me. We ended the evening with a mid Big Brother watching dip in the pool. It great when you can make 90 degree temps give you a chill.
God I hope the Landlord brings an AC guy with him...

Big Brother as mentioned above, is on again tonight, with the live eviction. I hope that Steven stays but it is looking like Dan has the house behind him. And so far i agree that Libra needs to go...

OK and for the last most awful thing that I have seen in a long time and since it scarred me i have to pass it along and not suffer alone. So, monday i was coming home from work and passed a neighbor's house that doesn't really take care of his property or anything (there is one on every block). So, i don't know what made me look at his house when I drove by on my way home but i did and i saw four paws and legs laying sideways sticking out of a tarp, in a red wagon, in the front yard.. I just knew it was his dog.. dead, stuck in a wagon..
I came in the door crying explaining to my boyfriend what i had seen.. just disturbing. So, we went to the Rockies game that night, the one where it was 7-0 before we got to our seats one out into the first inning. Yeah, Colorado lost. but not by much we actually came back and scored 10 runs, but they already had 18 so, we lost.. but when we came home that night, like at 11:00 PM, the dog was still there.. and then again the next morning on my way to work it was still there.. but this time it was bloated.. AWFUL!!
so i called animal control when i got to work... by the time i got home, it was no longer in the wagon, by my bet is that it is just in his trash can as it was pulled up next to the wagon by yesterday afternoon. I would just hope that he could care for the dog after it's life and not just toss it out for the garbage men to get Thursday.

47 minutes till snack time.

Just some stuff

So, i will apologize for not being as consistent with this blog as i was with the last.. I will get back into it, but right now, in the middle of summer, i just seem to be more distracted. Maybe because it is so hot and dry out here that one finds it hard to do anything when not in AC or maybe i am just being lazy, but it is hard to keep up.

In the last week i have reconnected with two high school friends and one college friend. CRAZY. (oh and through the college friend, saw a link to my adviser from College and i sent him a note.. Very strange to remember the old high school days or college times. We'll see if the adviser will remember me. Chances are no. but we will see.

I also read that a friend, that was happily married the last time i talked to her, (maybe 4 months ago) told me today that she and her husband have filed for divorce and it will go through in 58 days, not that she is counting.. SO tomorrow before we go see a band, i have made a date to have a drink and get the scoop.

But for me, all this reconnecting really just affirms for me that i am completely in the right place at the right time.. things are good and I am on track... I think of things like that (and since i don't think there are such things as coincidences)I think that things like this, experiences like reconnecting with old friends is a postcard from God. Something to say "just thinking of you and wanted to say hi and let you know that you are on the right track- Love God"

so all this reconnecting makes you think. I mean some people are SOOO still themselves that it is very refreshing and easy to reconnect and feel as if no time has passed and some are so very different you wonder what the heck happened. So, i called my boyfriend and told him about the break up i had just discovered and we are both shocked that people have gotten married and now divorcing in the time we have lived in our latest house. And i can't believe that we have stuck it out longer than some. I am now fully convinced that marriage is not the answer. I feel that we have followed our path at the same time realizing it isn't the path for everyone. i like that we became friends then best friend then lovers and then living together in that order. Nothing has been rushed, as our anxious parents can attest to, and we are extremely happy taking one step at a time, with not really a plan. just see where the future lands us. It hasn't been bad for us yet.. so, we are not leaving this path just yet.

So, Big brother had begun, and i am not sure who my favorite is.. All i know is that the big ego guy has got to go. I hated that he was talking to almost everyone in the house bragging that Jerry (the old man) took his advice and now thinks he runs the house, well until the ENTIRE HOUSE went to jerry BEGGING him to put this guy up on the block, and Jerry did.. with heavy heart because he had to go back on his word, but when you make a pact out of desperation and not taking your time to see what people are like, chances are you will have to go back on your word at some point.
I like the way the house is decorated. The different themes though the house is interesting, visually. But we will see tonight who get evicted first.. I hope it's the big mouth. I mean he should have learned from Jen last year to keep your MOUTH SHUT for at least the first day. I mean gosh, haven't these people seen the show before?

My pool is still great. I got a new cover for it and it doesn't seem to keep the heat in the water as much as the old tarp did, so on one hand it's refreshing being chillier, but on the other, when the shade hits the whole pool, you want a little more heat, so i am going to experiment and see if i can trap some of the heat, while still using the new cover.

This weekend is the Mile High Music Festival here in Denver. And to be completely honest, I don't really give a crap. Tom Petty will be playing and i already saw him and shot him at Vegoose last year.. and Dave Mathews Band I HATE. there will be some denver local bands and those are the ones that i will pay attention to.
I talked to the publicist for the event to see if i could get video credentials to shoot and my GOD She was a bitch. I mean there are ways to say no that you are not being a bitch, but this chick was being a BITCH.. so i got media credentials another way, but wont be able to shoot video, although i will have my still camera. But it's not like I really care at all. at least I don't have to buy a ticket.

Alright, that's all for now. have a great wednesday and enjoy some Big Brother...

Wednesday, July 9

Just some stuff I saw in one newscast...

OK, so last night i had a few happy hour beers with some friends. They were good, and the friends are all doing fine, thanks for asking.. But when i got home, i switched on the news and the first three stories caught me so off guard, that i had to tivo the segment and watch it again this morning to make sure it just wasn't the beer.. and no, it wasn't, there were some strange things going on here yesterday..
So, the first is there was a small town cop and his son that went up to the town above theirs to have a beer. Well the COP, of course, starts some trouble and was quoted by the barkeep as declaring a warning of "I'm a (small town) Cop, and I can kick some ass" so be blatantly wasn't trying to hide the fact that he was a cop, so of course the local boys didn't take to kindly to an out of town big mouthed cop and a fight ensued. Well guess what this protector and server of the community did?? He friggen RAN AWAY, and left his son to take the beating.. I swear to GOD!!! OH MY LORD.. This guy is a cop in the same town that another cop (last year) was having an affair with a woman that worked at the cop shop and fathered a child. Well when his wife found out, yeah, she stalked her and shot her in the head. cold blood.. then tried to blame it on her husband, but that was a different story.. AND this is the same small town that three years ago, a guy took a back-hoe and welded into a tank and went on a ramming spree to all the local government buildings. I don't think he got too far, maybe one building wrecked before he shot himself..
LORD the small western towns are NUTS!!
ok, so then the next story was about a county in Colorado, has installed the "you can see me naked" security machines in their court house... you have to go through it, you can not enter the courthouse without stepping into this machine that scans your entire body and shows a graphic (too graphic for them to show on the news) to the security guard right there.. WRONG!!! I disagree with these security machines in the airport (the are testing on in DIA now) and i am certainly against this. It is a virtual strip search and i feel it totally violates my privacy. I mean in the airport it is supposed to make us feel better to know that our faces are blurred.. well excuse me, but it ain't my face i don't want strange men looking at.. I mean in the summer i wear cardigan sweaters, so i will NOT be naked in front of strangers.. just wrong!!!
and then the third was a guy got arrested in Atlanta for selling drugs out of an ICE CREAM TRUCK!!! I mean seriously.. Can't you pick a better decoy than a friggen ICE CREAM TRUCK... but anyway. I'm just sayin'.
Ok so this one takes the cake i think... the old man, John McCain was in Denver yesterday and is security detail arrested a 60 YEAR OLD WOMAN. Know what her alarming offense was to have her be arrested for??? That's right, a protest sign that simply read "MCCAIN = BUSH" and the ARRESTED HER... I mean, WHAT????

What is this world coming to????
